Bad news, more bad news and still more bad news. Why the fuck can't GoTN & the Chennai Corporation pick up the fucking pace and get some shit done instead of mucking around to no goddamn effect?
Too much hype surrounding the IT Corridor and no progress. Well, that's incorrect - there's been some progress, certainly not commensurate to the time they've taken. 3 years, I think it's been. We should be at Mahabs by now, not stuck at Arihant Technopolis.
MRTS - firstly, of no good use. Pretty much unnecessary. Perhaps of some use if they actually finish the damn thing. The stretch from Taramani to Velachery is taking forever to complete. Get on with it, dammit.
Bridges, flyovers, etc., the links will deal with. I don't have the patience to write about them all; should my patience wear thin, I might take my frustration at the Govt. out on my laptop. Certainly wouldn't want that.
Chennai Metro - Bangalore has already started on theirs. We need to, as well. NOW! For fuck's sake, start. At least have it ready by 2020.
That's all for this rant. I'll be back, eventually.
EDIT: At 10:14 pm, finally a silver lining. Read this. From the sounds of things (I can only speak of what I read in the news, having no access to actualities), MTC seems to be doing a kickass job. Good on them!

chk this out : http://www.ibnlive.com/news/india/05_2007/chennai-rated-indias-cleanliest-city-41726.html
Yup, I've read that one. Should've mentioned it. Was a little too caught up in the bad news. In any case, there was another survey of all state capitals (not just the metros) and Chennai ranked 2nd cleanest with a score of 118/200 after Chandigarh (144).
Honestly, though, however much I rave about Chennai, I can't consider it clean. It's the CLEANEST metro, but that's not saying much. I don't get why there's such a lack of responsibility among Chennaivasis & the Corporation in maintaining sanitation & hygiene. Look at Nagpur - it's a small city, but it's been maintained remarkably well. It ought to be a model for M. Subramaniam and others for how to keep the city clean.
While Exnora is doing a fairly decent job, a lot more needs to be done. The rivers, for example - both the Adyar & the Cooum need to be considered top priorities.
I work in Boston and the Charles River that flows through it is a pleasure to walk by. There are lawns on both banks of the river that are actually used by the public for recreation. Imagine seeing that in Chennai - that really would be a treat! Get those bloody encroachments off the banks, give the river a good clean up, fence it and make parks or lawns on the banks (sort of like the one right after the Kotturpuram bridge on the Nandanam side)
